In 2022, a video led us to the Batwa communities in Burundi — one of the most marginalised groups in East Africa. What began as a simple act of donating school supplies quickly revealed a deeper need: these children don’t just need materials — they need a school.

At Niko Nawe, we believe education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty. That’s why we’re raising funds to build a safe, well-equipped, and self-sustaining primary and nursery school for the Batwa children — a place where they can learn, grow, and shape their own futures.

Just as it is vital to keep girls in school, it is equally important to ensure that boys stay in school too.

At Niko Nawe, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and shape their own future — regardless of gender. In many underserved communities, boys often drop out of school due to poverty, family responsibilities, or lack of support. Without education, their potential is cut short, and their chances for a better life diminish.
