Bringing hope and education in Burundi

In the quiet hills of Burundi, the Batwa children dream like all others—but without a school, those dreams have nowhere to grow. Many girls stay home, not because they lack ability, but because they lack simple essentials like school supplies or even dignity during their monthly cycle. At Niko Nawe, we see them. We hear them. And with your help, we’re building more than just walls—we’re building a sanctuary of hope, where every child is known, valued, and given the chance to rise. Because no child should be left behind simply because they were born unseen.

Rooted in Love, Driven by Purpose

Thanks for the clarification! Here’s a revised version that is longer than the original you provided but still shorter than the full extended one a perfect middle ground: At Niko Nawe, our mission is rooted in love and driven by a powerful belief in the dignity of every child. We’ve seen firsthand how education can break cycles of poverty, restore hope, and uplift entire communities. That’s why we are fully committed to one goal: building a school for the Batwa children of Burundi—a community long pushed to the margins, living without access to even the most basic education. We are not just constructing walls and classrooms; we are creating a safe space where forgotten children are given the chance to learn, grow, and be seen. Through deep compassion and unwavering purpose, we walk alongside the Batwa people in building a brighter, more just future.

Our sponsors and partners stand with us in our mission to build a school for the Batwa children in Burundi, creating lasting impact through unity and compassion.

Where we are

Niko Nawe was founded with a deep commitment to supporting underrepresented and marginalised communities in East Africa, beginning with our outreach in Uganda. As our impact has grown, so has our presence—reaching more villages, more schools, and more lives with each passing year. We work in both rural and urban areas, going where the needs are greatest. From engaging with and supporting the Batwa community in Burundi to supporting children with scholastic materials in remote schools of Rakai and Mityaana – Uganda, our team is dedicated to walking alongside communities, listening to their challenges, and co-creating solutions that bring lasting change. While our base is in London, we are proud to have supporters and partners across cities, who believe in the vision of dignity, education, and opportunity for all. Every project we undertake—whether it’s holding community dialogues, distributing supplies, or organising mentorships—is rooted in local understanding and powered by international solidarity. We may be small, but our reach continues to grow—one village, one child, one family at a time.
